PTFE (TFE) and PVDF both are experiencing long lead times.
PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene product PTFE (TFE) along with PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar which is mined in Mongolia and China. The world interest in this mineral has increased significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and very low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is utilized within a good deal of purposes from non-stick fry cookware to ptfe tape for use at home. This mineral is actually a key raw material inside the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and lots of refrigerants. This increased demand bundled with shortage of raw materials is mainly responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double during the last year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to continue in the near future.
